What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a form of psychotherapy that helps clients heal from the emotional distress caused by distressing life experiences. On the basis of clinical research, EMDR has proven evidence of effectiveness in treating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

When a client undertakes EMDR they are treated with bilateral sensory stimulation delivered by their therapist whilst recalling distressing memories. EMDR shows that the mind can heal from psychological trauma as much as the body heals from physical trauma.
